Tight points race at Senoia Speedway

There hasn't been much racing lately.

Last week most races were off due to the holiday and for several weeks before that inclement weather postponed most of the races as well.

Thursday Thunder went off without a hitch last night, although this paper went to press before the results were in, and Senoia Speedway's racing series gets underway again this Saturday.

There are a number of tight points races at Senoia Speedway, making each week of racing more important to the drivers.

Randy Bynum leads the Late Model series with 250 points, while Scott Griffin is in second place with 215 points and Troy French is in third with 173 points.

Rod Williford is running away with the Sportsman series as he is in first place with 515 points. Mark Lore is closest to him with 375 points and Charles White and And Cash each have 352 points.

Things could change dramatically this Saturday though as the Sportsman race is a Double Points Special.

The Street Stock series is neck and neck. Stan Barge is in first place with 426 points, while Larry Pierce is close behind with 415 points. Mark Lore is in third place with 368 points and Robbie Gober is right behind him with 351 points.

Cary Hamilton leads Ty Stewart 510-451 in the Mini Stock series, while Shawn Morman is in third place with 392 points. Reed Sorenson is in first place in the Legends Pro series with 325 points. He is trailed by Andy James with 283 points and Doug Stevens with 219 points.

Trey Maughan leads the Bandoleros series with 473 points, while Matt Peeples is in second place with 390 points and Marci Bristol is in third place with 363 points.

There is still a lot of season to go and each week should have more intense races than the last. The racing series is held each Saturday at Senoia Speedway. The pit gates open at 3:30 p.m., the gates open at 5 p.m. and racing begins at 7 p.m.

General admission is $10 and admission for children 10 and under is $2.
