Local scouts enjoy jamboree in Canada

Boy Scout Troop 212, affiliated with Rolling Hills Baptist Church, currently has 14 scouts and seven leaders north of the border.

They are attending the 10th Canadian Jamboree at Prince Edward Island. The jamboree takes place every 10 years to bring together scouts from all over Canada to have exposure to others from different cultural backgrounds.

More than 14,000 Scouts are expected to attend. Jamborees are the Olympics of Scouting and Scouts from around the world will try new and challenging activities.

Set at Cabot Beach Park, known as Anne's Land because the area inspired the work "Anne of Green Gables," the setting is idyllic for landlubbers and water enthusiasts. The beaches of Malpeque Bay are perfect for kayaking, canoeing, swimming, sailing and more. The jamboree ends this Friday, but the memories that these Scouts are making will last a lifetime.
