Summer camp presents 'Pied Piper of Hamelin' for free at Sams Auditorium

Fayette-Coweta Family Theatre Inc. and A Company of Friends Drama Production Camp will present two free performances of the one-act musical "The Pied Piper of Hamelin" Saturday, July 7, at 2:30 and 4 p.m. at Sams Auditorium in Fayetteville.

The story focuses on the town of Hamelin, which has recently been besieged by rats. A strange man, the Pied Piper, claims he can rid the town of its rat problem for a price. The town officials agree to pay him if he gets rid of the rats but renege after the job is done. When the Pied Piper learns of the broken promise he exacts his revenge on the town.

The cast includes Emily Richardson as the Pied Piper, Brian Walsh as the Mayor, Andrew Bezek and Sarah Jagstadt as the Rat King and Queen and Shelby Gill as Old-Old Whiskers.

This production will be presented by a group of 25 campers 5 to 14 years of age. Campers have designed the sets, costumes and makeup. They have learned lines, dances and songs, all in two weeks. For information phone the theater office at 770-251-7611 or visit FCFT online at www.geocities.com/stagelove35/Family.html.

The groups's next production will be a dinner theater production of "King Midas and the Golden Touch" at Huddleston Elementary School. Performances will be at noon, 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 28.
