Rising Starr squad has a lot to cheer about

The Rising Starr Middle School cheerleaders recently attended the NCA Cheerleader Camp in Gatlinburg, Tenn.

The squad spent the week learning new chants, cheers, dances and stunts.

While at the camp, the squad won six blue ribbons and the Champion Chant trophy. The girls also won the spirit stick daily and they brought the overall spirit stick home to Fayette County.

Eleven girls were nominated for All American Cheerleader: Caroline Patterson, Halee Yates, Leah Rose Finney, Alex Stanford, Kristine Whitmore, Jackie Currin, Ashley Kramer, Taryn Petzel, Anne Buckle, Kelly Hadzick and Katy Kuithe. Finney was selected as All American Cheerleader.

The squad is coached by Robin Scherer and Kim Jackson.
