Students from the Georgia Youth Ballet and dancers from five other states have had the honor of studying under professional instructors over the past few weeks.

The students participated in workshops which featured three classes a day with instruction in hip-hop, variations, classical and pas de deux.

The instructors who have taught these classes include Magda Aunon of Fort Lauderdale Ballet Classique, Roberto Munoz, ballet master of Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Elie Lazar of the Joffrey Ballet in New York, Kathy Thibodeaux of Ballet Magnificat in Mississippi and Thom Clower, a freelance ballet master. The workshop began June 4 and will culminate with a performance June 29.

"Being able to bring instructors of such national and international reputation to The Studio has been a real treat for our students," said Magdalena Maury, artistic director for the GYB. "The students are seeing first hand what it means to work with the best and do their best. it is a priceless lesson at this stage of their dance careers."

The performance will be Friday, June 29 at 7:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Mercy High School in Fayetteville. The recital will include original numbers by Lazar and Maury as well as the classic graduation ball. The recital is free to the public. Phone 770-716-9858.
