Tax cut is illusion; don't you realize that's your money?

There is turmoil in the land! There is a shift of power that can be devastating to the world! The end of an era is at hand!

No, this isn't some catastrophic political upheaval between nations. This is what happened when one senator said he was going to switch from Republican to Independent. The end of the world is not at hand. It's not going to end because one senator decides to bolt from one party to another.

You have Republicans. You have Democrats. And now you have Independents in the Senate. There is the same configuration in the House. If you look at the total agenda of all the parties, you won't find enough differences to fill a teacup. Democrats, Independents, Republicans all have the same ultimate goal. Gain power in Congress and the presidency and do that in any means possible. Forget the people! Forget the country! Gain control! The end justifies the means.

Take the so-called tax cut. The Republicans have now kowtowed to the Democrats. They have upped the allowance for the Earned Income Credit to people who don't even pay taxes. Only the federal government can come up with a name like "Earned Income Credit" to replace welfare.

Only the lowest tax bracket (15 percent) will be reduced a full 5 percent; the rest of the brackets are reduced only 3 percent.

Now it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out these moves. Most of the people who vote are in those two areas. They either have EIC or are in the 15 percent tax bracket. Now is this about power or about the needs of the country?

The proposed tax cut will be realized 11 years from the day it is enacted. That means if the tax cut is signed into law on Memorial Day, the final cut will go into effect in 2012.

Come on, folks! You can't be so dense as to not see the trees because of the forest (or vice versa). Do you realize what happens between 2001 and 2012? There are six elections for the House. There are three elections for the president. One-third of the Senate will be elected every two years. The whole of the government can change over and over in these 11 years. Do you really believe the tax cut will survive these 11 years? If you do, I have a bridge for sale.

A tax cut, people, is not a give-away program. The government isn't going to give you anything back! The government NEVER gives anything back! A tax cut means you don't pay as much in future years as you are paying now.

The government, by its own admission, is telling us that they are going to overtax us to the tune of about $5.6 trillion. About half of that is from Social Security and Medicare taxes, which shouldn't even be included in a surplus package. That money, although not spent, is supposed to be for Social Security and Medicare.

That leaves some 2.8 trillion dollars your congressmen are saying they are going to take from you. And the majority of you don't give a damn! You should be outraged! You should be revolting! You should be demanding that the government cut the taxes, not in 11 years or five years, but now! Immediately! Better yet, get rid of the IRS and you won't be bothered about how tax cuts should be allocated between the rich, the middle and the poor.

I believe there are three types of people in this country. Those that blindly follow wherever they are led as long as that party or person will give them the most. They would put Hitler in if he promised them a free ride. Those that vote a party ticket because that's the only party there is. They would also put Hitler in if he were on the ticket. Then there are some out there that vote their conscience for the betterment of the country.

From past elections, the third type is definitely in the minority. I ask: Which are you?
