Clarification

The headline to an article in Wednesday's edition of The Citizen about traffic projects near Ga. Highways 54 and 74 incorrectly implied that the Peachtree City Council officially approved the construction of an eastbound turn lane for Hwy. 54 at Huddleston Road.

Although none of the council members opposed any of the traffic improvement projects proposed by city staff at last week's council meeting, no official vote was taken on the matter. A more formal recommendation will be made to council at a later meeting, according to Jim Williams, the city's director of developmental services.

The initial 250-foot eastbound turn lane will be constructed by John Wieland Homes, which agreed to do so as part of the approval for its Centennial subdivision that will be located off MacDuff Parkway. At a later date, plans are to extend the lane by 300 feet, with funds coming from either the city or the Georgia Department of Transportation, accoding to Williams.

The second phase would extend the turn lane to near the entrance to the Planterra Ridge subdivision.
