Tina Paone followed in the footsteps of her sisters last week, as she signed a letter of intent to attend Truett-McConnell College and run cross country for the school.

Paone, a four year member of the McIntosh varsity girls cross country team, which has been region champs for the past four years. She was captain of the sqauad this year and was a member of the state champion team. Paone also played soccer for two years while attending McIntosh.

"Cross Country was the highlight of my high school career," said Paone. "I made a lot of close friends and had a lot of fun."

Now, she'll move on to the cross country program at Truett-McConnell, which she is very familiar with, as she visited her sisters frequently when they attended the school. Truett-McConnell is a small, two-year Baptist College near Athens and is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association. The team is coached by Michael Walcott and faces a number of four year school during their season.

"Tina will compete for number one runner this year," said Walcott. "She is a disciplined runner who should fit in real well." Her high school coach, Charles Buckle, agrees, stating that she was the top runner during her freshman year and was a key contributor throughout her career at the school.

Paone plans to major in Education at the school and is excited about her growth, both mentally and spiritually. "I am excited about being able to learn more about the bible and to grow spiritually."
