Let PTC Council individually pay for traffic upgrades

[Cal Beverly's column] was very informative and well written. My issue is with the city. When my family moved to Peachtree City four years ago, it was because of its "small town" feel. If all the citizens are honest with themselves (and quit bragging about PTC being this great "upscale" community), I'm sure they know that the small town feeling is quickly going to be history.

We were told many different stories about the "planned" size of the city and I still don't know what the final number is supposed to be (I don't think the city knows either).

By letting the intersection of Ga. highways 74 and 54 build out like it has and allowing the likes of Wal-Mart and Home Depot in, the city has managed to prove to a lot of us that they don't have a clue about what they're doing and when businesses want to come into our city, "money talks".

Does the city think we need Wal-Mart, Home Depot and The Avenues here because PTC citizens are too lazy to drive to Newnan, Fayetteville or Lenox Mall? I doubt it! It's more important to them to turn PTC into a sort of south end Buckhead. Oh, did I mention that money talks.

Why didn't the city tell The Avenues, Don Pablo, Macaroni Grill or Chili's that if they want to build here, they can all foot the bill to improve the intersection? Seems pretty logical to me.

My bottom line is this: I still love this city, but the city government is power hungry and they are the people who made the decisions to "screw up" the hwys. 74-54 intersection, not us! Let them foot the $1 million bill because I will not!

Thanks for hearing me out.
