McIntosh golf season ends at state tournament By MICHAEL
BOYLAN
The McIntosh Chiefs golf team did not win the state tournament held earlier this week in Jekyll Island, but they did finish the season as region champs. The team, made up of Bryan Hume, Brandon Ring, Tony Decaro, David Werner, Jimmy Beebe and Ricky Atkinson, went 9-1 during the regular season. At the Region Championship, they scored a 298, finishing 11 strokes better than the second place team. "These guys work well together," said Coach Phil Colston. "They encourage each other to work harder and they help each other out." Five of the six members of the team are graduating this year. Atkinson is the team's only junior. Hume has received a scholarship to attend Kennesaw State University and play golf for them, while several other members will play golf at their respective universities in the fall. |
