Grab your chin, lean back on your back leg and arch your eyebrows.

It is time to practice that serious, art-appraising look, because it is time for the 33rd annual Old Courthouse Art Show.

The grounds outside the Old Courthouse in Fayetteville will be filled with more than 70 exhibitors of fine art, as well as the work of young artists from Fayette County schools. There will be displays of oil painting, watercolors, pottery and jewelry. It is a juried show, meaning the artists send slides of their work and are accepted by the committee that presents the show.

The art show is the only fine arts show south of Atlanta and is coordinated through the efforts of local artist Patsy Gullett and the Fayetteville Artists Association.

Artists come from all over the Southeast and this year one is making the trip from Ohio. There will also be a half dozen food vendors on hand, selling everything from Greek food to Smoothies. There will be ongoing performances from a barbershop quartet Saturday as well as awards to the artists at 1 p.m. and scholarships presented to one high school senior from each high school in the county. There will also be a performance by the Peachtree Wind Ensemble Concert Band Sunday at 1 p.m.

Saturday evening the first of The Beat on Main Street's three-part concert series will be presented. Zoots and the Swingin' Suits will perform a free concert at 7 p.m. at Heritage Park. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and picnic baskets and listen to the music of yesteryear recreated by this seven-piece band.

The Zoots perform selections from Glen Miller to Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra, including songs like "String of Pearls," "In The Mood," "Sentimental Journey," "Paper Doll," and "That's Amore."
