A rose is not just a rose at annual rose show By MICHAEL

It's time to stop and smell the roses, and what better place to do that than at the 16th annual Spring Rose Show, presented by the South Metro Rose Society. The two-day event will be at Fayetteville Primary School on Hood Avenue. The show is operated in accordance with American Rose Society rules. More than 500 roses will be entered into competition by amateur growers from throughout Georgia and the deep South. Exhibitors should pick up the show schedule and exhibitor number Saturday, May 19 from 7-9 a.m. Meet under the portico of the school. Entry closes at 10 a.m. as the teams of judges have decisions to make by 2 p.m. For exhibitors info, contact commitee Chairman Tommie Adams at 770-478-7909. The best time for viewing the roses will be Saturday or Sunday afternoon from 2-5 p.m. All classifications are represented and prizes are awarded. There are two classes dedicated for the novice and beginner. There is no charge for the event as it is the goal of the society for everyone who wants to have a rose garden to be encouraged and successful with growing roses. There will be a rose information display on-site staffed by consulting rosarians rose experts recognized by The American Rose Society. The South Metro Rose Society is one of more than 400 local clubs affiliated with the American Rose Society, which is the world's largest organization devoted to America's national flower.
