McIntosh boys and girls tennis heads to state semifinals By MICHAEL

The McIntosh boys and girls tennis teams have made the state semifinals, after winning quarterfinal matches held recently at the Peachtree City tennis Center. The boys qualified by defeating Valdosta 4-1. B.J. James won 6-0, 6-0, while James Dwyer won 6-1, 6-0. Yosuke Nomura, the number three singles player for the Chiefs, lost 4-6, 3-6. The doubles team of Sundeep Sood and Mike Saheim won their first set 6-1 and were winning their second set 4-1 when they were pulled. The doubles team of Phil Van Fossan and Justin Hale had already won their game 6-1, 6-2, giving the Chiefs the four points and the win. The girls faced Tift County and won 5-0. The top three singles players for the Chiefs won their games; Priscilla Roberts won 6-0, 6-0; Rebecca Timmis won 6-1, 6-2; and Denise Daughenbaugh won 6-0, 6-1. The doubles team of Adriane Hodges and Sunya Sweeney won their game 6-3, 6-3, while Shelby Carlson and Renae Clarke won their game 6-0, 6-1. The semifinals and finals will be held this Saturday at Stone Mountain. The games are scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. |
