The boys and girls teams from Region 4-AAAAA keep on winning in the AAAAA soccer tournament and each win brings them closer to state titles and possible rematches with their region rivals.

There were four second round games played on Monday evening and all four local teams emerged victorious. The McIntosh Lady Chiefs hosted Griffin and won, 10-0. Julie Herdic had a hat trick by halftime while Tabitha Lowey completed her hat trick in the second half. Senior Jenny Jackson scored with two seconds remaining in the first half, giving the Lady Chiefs a 6-0 edge at the half. Alicia Shulz also scored for McIntosh on a penalty kick. The Lady Chiefs will face the winner of the Parkview and Sprayberry game played last night.

Starr's Mill hosted the Griffin boys on Monday and won, 2-1. The Panthers got goals from Jordan Davis and Robert Cooper. Cooper and Chris Lambing both had assists in the win. The Panthers will play at Brookwood on Friday night. Fayette County faced Coffee on Monday and also won 2-1. The Tigers Alex Crawford scored both goals. His first one was 30 minutes into the game off of a header and was assisted by Eric Vogel, while his second one came in the second half and was assisted by David Zak.

Coffee, which had threatened to score for the entire game, scored their goal off of a corner kick with four minutes remaining. Keeper Matt Honeywell and great defensive plays from Ben barth, Roseman Dias, Bryan Collier and Josh Hanson preserved the win for Fayette County. The Tigers will face Milton at Milton High School on Friday.

McIntosh avenged a tight and physical win over Warner Robins in the McIntosh Classic with a 4-0 victory on Monday. The win sets up another rematch of sorts as the Chiefs will travel to take on Parkview on Friday. The two schools seem to meet every year in the state playoffs and the match should be intense.

Games played last night included Starr's Mill's girls against Hardaway, Fayette County's girls against Lowndes and Newnan's girls against Colquitt County. If the Lady Panthers win, they are scheduled to meet the winner of the Pope and Shiloh game on Saturday. If the Lady Tigers win, they will meet the winner of the Walton and Brookwood match on Saturday. If Newnan wins, they will play the winner of the Duluth and Harrison game.
