Cary will be featured speaker at PTC Presbyterian

Carolyn Cary, co-founder of the Fayette County Historical Society, will be the featured speaker at the Men's Fellowship Meeting at the First Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City Sunday, May 20. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the choir room of the church.

Cary, a long-time Fayette resident, was one of the official Olympic torch bearers for Fayetteville when the Olympics came to Atlanta in 1996. She has received numerous public service awards from such organizations as the Creek Indian Nation and Clan McIntosh, for work on their behalf, and from the Fayette County Cancer Society and the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce.

In 1977, Cary wrote and edited the "History of Fayette County," and was voted Fayette County's "Citizen of the Year." She has been the county's "official" historian since 1982 and is a regular, contributing writer for "The Citizen."
