Art Students Receive Awards
Twenty-four students from McIntosh High School recently participated in the sixth annual Creative Self-expression Show sponsored by the Kedron Great Frame Up Shop and Gallery. The Self-expression show is a juried art exhibit. Selected artwork is showcased during an evening reception and five students are awarded as Best of Show winners. One of this year's Best of Show winners was Anna Martin from McIntosh. Other winners from the high school were Rachel Madrid, drawing; Mary Dawkins, design; Yumiko Fujie, pen and ink; and Robert Jones, mixed media. All art students, including those who are not selected to exhibit at the show, are given art portfolios donated by the company. Because of The Great Frame Up's involvement in their supportive program with the arts and the community, the company has been selected as the recipient of the New Initiative Award from the Business Committees for the Arts Inc. and Forbes magazine. Additionally, several McIntosh students were selected to participate in the congressional 3rd District Art Competition presented by Rep. Mac Collins. The students are Mandy Graham, Molly MacGregor, Amanda P. Graham, Anna Martin and Robert "B.J." Sellers. Their artwork was displayed at Clayton College and State University last week. Students were competing for a trip to Washington, D.C., a $100 prize and an opportunity to have their artwork displayed at the Capitol in Washington, D.C. for one year. |
