McIntosh tennis team wins easily in the first round

The McIntosh boys and girls tennis teams entered the first round of the AAAAA state tournament as region champs. The matches took place at the Peachtree City Tennis Center and both teams had the same luck they had had all year.

The girls faced Camden County and won 5-0. Priscilla Roberts, Rebecca Timmis and Denise Daughenbaugh won their singles matches, while Sunya Sweeney, Adriane Hodges, Stacey Brundrette and Renae Clarke won the doubles matches. Timmis and Daughenbaugh won both of their sets, 6-0, 6-0, while Timmis won her two sets, 6-1, 6-0. Sweeney and Hodges won their match, 6-1, 6-0 and Clarke and Brundrette won their match, 6-0, 6-0.

The boys faced Benedictine Academy from Savannah and won 4-1. BJ James and James Dwyer won their singles matches while Yosuke Nomura lost as the number three single. Mike Saheim and Sundeep Sood and Phil Van Fossan and Justin Hale were winners in the doubles matches. James won his match, 6-0, 6-0 while Dwyer won his, 6-0, 6-2. Nomura lost his match 0-6, 3-6. Saheim and Sood won their match 6-1, 6-0 and Van Fossan and hale won their match, 6-0, 6-1.

The second round matches will be held next week. Details were not available at press time.
