Local
gardener to sign new book Popular Georgia gardener and Fayette County native Walter Reeves will share "Timely Tips for Your Georgia Garden" and sign copies the new book he coauthored, "Month-By-Month Gardening in Georgia," along with his two previous Georgia gardening titles, at Fayetteville's Barnes & Noble Café at 1415 Ga. Highway 85 north, suite 200, at noon Thursday, April 19. Written by Reeves and fellow Georgia gardening expert Erica Glasener, the book is packed with information arranged in a practical, easy-to-use format, according to its publishers. Each of the book's 10 plant categories includes 12 monthly guides with specific information on how to care for those plants that month. Gardeners who want to research rose routines in July or horde house plant how-to's in December need only turn to that month in that plant group's chapter. The monthly entry contains focused information on that plant group alone, so gardeners can find the answers they need fast. "We wrote this book because gardeners often ask us, 'What should we be doing or expecting in our garden right now?'" comments Reeves. Glasener adds, "'Month-By-Month Gardening in Georgia' offers not only lists of tasks to accomplish each month, but also pests and diseases to watch out for and methods to control them, with suggestions for monthly plant combinations." Author Walter Reeves hosts 750 WSB-AM's highly rated garden call-in show every Saturday morning from 6 to 10 a.m. and writes weekly garden tips in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "Month-by-Month Gardening in Georgia" is Reeves' and Glasener's third gardening book with publisher Cool Springs Press. Their first work, the "Georgia Gardener's Guide," contains information on 175 premium plants for the Peach State. Their next effort, "My Georgia Garden: A Gardener's Journal," is sprinkled with gardening hints, designed for gardeners to record their own gardening adventures. Published by Cool Springs Press, "Month-by Month Gardening in Georgia" (368 pages, $24.95) is now available in bookstores and garden centers across the state, and on the Internet at amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com. Cool Springs Press is based in Franklin, Tenn.
