Why aren't there outcries over Confederate support?

I must admit I'm a fairly new resident to Fayette County, living here just under two years. However, I am an Atlanta native. I accepted Christ as my personal savior at the age of 14. In reading the Wednesday, April 4 edition of The Citizen I was horrified to see the front page article entitled, "Fayette's last living 'real daughter' of the Confederacy, 109, is recognized."

I pray that parties such as the Confederacy had long since expired. I thought Fayette was the "Christian Community"? I can remember like it was yesterday the uproar concerning the possibility of liquor stores in the city of Fayetteville. In a later edition of The Citizen I read about Hooter's plans to build in Fayetteville and "more than 100 residents came out in opposition to the request, citing moral reason because of the Hooters image."

As history serves me, the Confederate Party was responsible for the enslavement of an entire race. They fought to the death to keep the ability to rape women, kill and plunder at their own free will not to mention pervert and suborn the will of God by doing so. So let's see, where are the citizens of Fayette protesting this moral degradation of our society? Where are all of the ministers calling for their congregations to cry out in disgust and outrage?

I know none of the Bible-toting, prayer-cloth raising citizens of Fayette support rape, murder and enslavement. However, I do hope many of the good citizens of Fayette are as saddened to read about publicized support and recognition of wicked factions such as the Confederacy.

I can understand and to some degree support the good people of Fayette desiring to control the "elements" that come into our community. I trust we can see the true evil that lurks in the hearts of people when we allow the praise of principalities such as the Confederacy. Lets take a trip down history lane: Ancient Egypt and Rome, Nazi Germany, Southern Confederacy all Christ-less societies. Well, one is alive and well right here in our backyard. Where are you, soldiers of God?
