Warm Springs heats up with weekend full of events The village of Warm Springs invites you to the annual Spring Fling Saturday, April 14 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Observe local artists and craftsmen while they turn ordinary materials into works of art. Take a step back in time to the 1940s when life was simpler with antique cars, merchants dressed in period costumes, entertainment and more. Shopping in the village's year 'round specialty stores - each with a flavor of its own down home country cooking, barbecue and favorite desserts all are part of the experience. Children can hear the story of Peter Rabbit at Trudy's Bookstore at 11 a.m. and delight in an Easter egg hunt at 2 p.m. in the Old Bullochville Courtyard. Arrive early and see history in the re-making. April 12 in Warm Springs marks the 56th anniversary of the death of the 32nd president, Franklin D. Roosevelt. Georgia Gov. Roy Barnes will pay tribute to the late president in a commemorative ceremony at the Little White House at 2 p.m. April 12. Admission is free. Saturday, April 14, the Little White House will present "celebrate the succession of the American presidency" at various times. Dr. Tom Wentland and Del Jackson will portray Franklin D Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman in a performance that will dramatize the evening of Mach 29, 1945 when FDR boarded the train for his last trip to Warm Springs. For information phone the Warm Springs Welcome Center at 1-800-337-1927 If you head down to Warm Springs, you will also get a chance to see Ronaldo-Baby, the "king of polyester and freak of nature." Ronaldo-Baby is Warm Springs' hero for the March of Dimes again this year. The official kickoff for the Warm Springs hero will be a baby shower this Saturday evening at 7 p.m. at The Ivy on Broad. T J Edison & Company, Ronaldo's favorite band, will play some of his most sentimental tunes ("Old Time Rock 'n' Roll" and "Ride, Sally Ride" among others). Ronaldo says he has something special for each lady that dances with him. The theme is "eccentricity," so wear your favorite polyester. Admission is $5, which will be donated to March of Dimes. Light fare is available. Ronaldo's passion for dance (and the ladies) has committed him to dance every Saturday night at the Ivy on Broad through April 21.
