It will be a busy weekend.

Easter weekend always is. We start with Good Friday and hope for an even better Saturday. There will be many local activities going on this weekend to help make it that way. Whether you're someone who revels in nature or industry, there is something going on this weekend to appeal to your tastes.

The weekend begins with the Fayette County Recreation Department's Adult Leisure Club meeting for its monthly potluck luncheon at the Kiwanis Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The fee is $5 and a covered dish.

The Metro Fayette Kiwanis Club will sponsor a Rose Rodeo Saturday, April 14 from 9 a.m. to noon. The Fayette County Rose Society will be on hand to give demonstrations on planting, pruning and selection as well as information on care of roses.

The Rose Rodeo will be at Andy's II Discount Nursery on Ga. Highway 85 in Fayetteville. All proceeds will benefit the Metro Fayette Kiwanis Club and its community projects. Phone Vicki Turner at 770-461-4860.

If roses aren't your pace, check out Touch A Truck. The Peachtree City Recreation Department is sponsoring this event for kids of all ages to come and see, touch and generally be around big rigs of all kinds.

The event will be Saturday, April 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Shakerag Knoll (off McIntosh Trail at the amphitheater parking lot). All kinds of motor equipment will be on hand for fans of heavy machinery to touch and learn more about. There will be a semi-tractor trailer, a bucket truck, stump grinder, chipper truck, luxury van, back hoe, compactor, front end loader, concrete truck, police and fire vehicles and more.

"What could be a better opportunity for pictures to be taken of your little boys and girls (or big boys and girls) on or around these huge vehicles," said Susan Taylor, event coordinator. "We will have on hand hot dogs and drinks sold by a local Boy Scout troop and an up-and-coming local band will be on hand to keep things lively."

This event has been offered by other recreation departments around the state and has been very successful. For information phone 770-631-2542.

It wouldn't be Easter weekend without an egg hunt. The Tyrone Recreation Department will offer an Easter egg hunt Saturday, April 14 at 1 p.m. at Shamrock Park. The hunt is free but participants are asked to preregister. Call 770-487-4694.

There are dozens of other things to do this weekend, including a day trip to Callaway Gardens, visiting Six Flags, watching the Braves take on the Phillies, visiting Warm Springs or viewing some top notch soccer at the Adidas Challenge Cup. Whatever you choose to do this weekend, be sure to have fun.
