McIntosh battles in tight meet before spring break

Before spring break, the McIntosh boys and girls track teams faced Riverwood High School and Westminster High School.

The girls placed second in the meet with 59 points, while the boys placed third with 29 points. Each team had some success in the 15 events, placing among the top three in many of them.

For the girls, Tabitha Lowey placed first in the triple jump with a jump of 31'.75", while placing third in the high jump with a jump of 4'08". Tiffany Grant placed second in the long jump with a jump of 14', while placing third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:04.70 and second in the 200-meter dash with 28.29. Evita Smith placed first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.71 and first in the 200-meter dash with 27.12.

Other top three finishers for the Lady Chiefs were Alexandra Hugelet who placed first in the 1,600-meter with a time of 5:50.96, while Marle Lehmann placed second in the 1,600-meter with a time of 5:53.39. The Lady Chiefs took the top three positions in the 100-meter hurdles with Megan Spencer first with a time of 17.30, Jennifer McHenry in second place with a time of 18, and Leandi Smith in third with 18.65. Smith also placed second in the 300-meter with a time of 53.12. Kierra Florence placed second in the discus with a throw of 84'03". The McIntosh girls placed first in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 52.34.

For the boys Seth Yetter placed first in the high jump with 5'10", while Sean Heaton placed first in the pole vault with a vault of 14'01". Randy Klimetz place second in the long jump with 14'01". In the 1,600-meter Ben Brantley placed first in the 4:39.79, while Shaun Emery placed second in the 1,600-meter with a time of 4:40.99. Emery also placed first in the 3,200-meter with a time of 10:11.62., while Brantley placed third in the 800-meter dash with 2:10.06.

The schools get back into the swing of things this afternoon as McIntosh hosts Fayette County at 4:30, while Starr's Mill hosts Westminster and Alexander at 4:30.
