Local high school baseball teams played during spring break last week. Some winning streaks began, while others came to an end.

The Starr's Mill Panthers ended the East Coweta Indians' seven game winning streak Friday with a 10-0 win. The Panthers got one run in the first inning, one in the second, two in the third and four more in the fourth. Alan Beall drove in four runs in Starr's Mill's win.

Earlier in the week, Starr's Mill defeated Forest Park 9-1. The Panthers, when all cylinders are clicking, are tough to beat. The team did lose to Newnan Monday, 10-1. Their current record is 3-7.

Starr's Mill will host McIntosh today at 4:30 p.m. The Panthers will play Friday at Mt. Zion, Jonesboro (3-11) at 5 p.m. and will host Rockdale County Saturday at 2 p.m. Starr's Mill returns home Monday to host Fayette County at 4:15 p.m.

The McIntosh Chiefs lost to Lovejoy last Monday, 4-2, before starting a two-game win streak. The Chiefs defeated Forest Park 13-7 Wednesday and then beat North Clayton 7-3 Friday. Starting pitcher Billy Secor hit a two-run home run in the win and Mahal DeCastro drove in two runs as well.

The Chiefs (4-7) faced East Coweta Monday and lost 8-3. After their game today with Starr's Mill, the Chiefs will play at Newnan (8-4) Friday at 4:45 p.m. and then will host Amalia, Virgin Islands Saturday at 4 p.m. and Mt. Zion, Jonesboro (3-11) Monday at 7 p.m.

The Fayette County Tigers defeated Riverdale last Monday, 5-4, before going on a two-game losing streak. The Tigers faced Eagle's Landing last Wednesday and lost 6-1 and then lost to Lovejoy last Friday, 3-2. Fayette County played against Forest Park Monday and won 3-1. The win put the Tigers (7-7) back at .500.

Fayette County will play at North Clayton (1-8) this afternoon at 5:55 and will host East Coweta (10-3) at 6 p.m. Friday

The Sandy Creek Patriots lost two in a row before walloping Salem 14-3 Monday. Sandy Creek faced Heritage last Wednesday and lost 10-4. Friday, the Patriots hosted Jones County and lost 8-1.

The Patriots have had some good pitching this year, but their wins seem to come when their bats are really on fire. In their eight wins, the Patriots have out-scored their opponents 79-29. Sandy Creek (8-7) hosts Woodward Academy today at 5:30 p.m. They will be off until next Monday when they play at Union Grove at 5:30 p.m.
