Arcade offers Fayette a new choice for family fun, games

A new business in the Fayetteville Corners (World Gym/Hobby lobby) shopping center in Fayetteville should be of interest to families with preteens.

Nickelmania Family Fun Center opened April 1 with almost 100 arcade games, most of which cost just five cents to play. The most expensive games are interactive and cost 20 cents.

Nickelmania partners Drew and Tana Thompson of Fayetteville and Shrivica and Russell Phillips of Lithonia noticed that after going out to eat and to the movies, there's not a lot for families to do in Fayetteville.

When considering a business venture in the Fayette market, they concluded a family entertainment enterprise would be a welcome addition.

The resulting family fun center offers a party room with hostess services which can accommodate up to 50, and 30 games are played through a ticket redemption program, paying off in prizes ranging from stickers to bicycles, as well as the remaining arcade games.

The Thompsons are newcomers to the Fayette business scene, but have owned three paging/cellular stores and a recording studio in the metro Atlanta market over the past 10 years. They sold the last of these businesses last spring and made a decision to reinvest closer to home.

The Phillipses operate a pressure washing service in addition to their newest enterprise.

Nickelmania is open seven days, Monday through Saturday, 10-10, and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. For information, phone 678-817-5994.
