Lane Watts to lead Fayette GOP Lane Watts of Fayetteville will lead the Fayette County Republican Party for the next two years. Watt was unanimously elected chairman during the party's biannual convention recently. "I'm honored and humbled to be elected to serve as chairman of the Fayette County Republican Party and I intend to build a strong, inclusive party organization here in Fayette County," said Watts. "The leadership team that has been put together is a talented group of individuals that will lead the party to great things in 2002 and beyond. Our local party will play a leading role in maintaining the Republican stronghold we have here in Fayette County, supporting our great Republican president, George W. Bush, and our Republican Congress, and in defeating Gov. Roy Barnes and his henchmen at the state Capitol in Atlanta," he added. "I'm proud to be the leader of this team and this effort and look forward to a banner year for the Republican Party in 2002," he said. During the convention, the group elected 60 delegates and alternates to the 3rd congressional District Convention, to be in Newnan in April, and to the Georgia Republican Party State Convention, in Marietta in May.
