Brooks elects Bauer By CAROLYN
CARY
Newly elected Brooks Councilman Fran Bauer says she is ready to go to work. "I love our small-town atmosphere," Bauer said, "and I am pleased to be able to help ensure that our community preserves all of the things that makes our town desirable." The town conducted a special election to fill the council vacancy created when Post 4 Councilman C. W. Howle resigned last fall when he moved to another county. The election drew 21 percent of voters to elect Bauer the winner with 63 percent of the vote. Two Brooks citizens qualified for the post: Lewis Harper, a deputy police chief in College Park and Bauer, a retired air traffic control specialist. Each had lived in Brooks for 11 years. Bauer will be sworn in at the Brooks Town Council meeting Wednesday, April 4, at the Town Hall at 7:30 p.m.
