Internet incident under investigation at Whitewater Middle By MONROE
ROARK
Fayette County School System officials are investigating allegations that students were allowed to view inappropriate material on the Internet in a computer class, a spokesman confirmed Friday. The incident occurred March 20 at Whitewater Middle School, school system spokesman Melinda Berry-Dreisbach said, and the school is conducting an internal investigation. "We do know some inappropriate material got on a computer screen in a computer lab," she said. "We don't know how it got there." Whitewater's resource officer is interviewing students who were in the class at the time, she added. The substitute teacher who was in charge of the class has also been interviewed and taken off all substitute lists in the county pending the outcome of the investigation. Berry-Dreisbach said that when the officer completes his inquiry, which should be in a couple of weeks, he will turn his findings over to the district attorney for review.
