Home invasion nets life in prison for Atlanta man By JOHN
MUNFORD
A Fayette County jury convicted an Atlanta man of armed robbery and several other crimes Tuesday afternoon for invading a Fayetteville home last March. Thale Antaneal Brownlee was sentenced by Chief Superior Court Judge Ben Miller to life in prison plus an additional 85 years for burglary and kidnapping. Assistant District Attorney Jim Harden said Brownlee and another suspect entered a home on Glenwood Lane and tied up a father and his children with duct tape while they ransacked the home. Brownlee held a gun to the father's head at one point, Harden added. The break in the case came thanks to evidence the criminals left behind: a roll of duct tape. The Fayette County Sheriff's Department's crime scene unit traced it back to the store where it was purchased, and Brownlee was identified on camera purchasing the tape. "The sheriff's department and the (Fayetteville) police department did an excellent job on this," Harden said, adding that the conviction sends a message to would-be crooks targeting Fayette County.
