And the search
continues.
Earlier this
year, the South Fulton Chamber of Commerce accepted the resignation
of President Kermit Hairston. Since then, chamber Chairman Sheila Crews
has been helping to oversee the operations.
"I've
been wearing a lot of hats lately," she said.
But Crews
does see a light at the end of the tunnel.
At the end
of this month, chamber members will have their annual retreat and establish
a program of work for the rest of the year.
"We've
had a few bumps in the road, but after our program is defined, we'll
know more what type of person we need to hire," she said.
The Metro
Atlanta Chamber of Commerce has been accepting resumes and helping the
South Fulton Chamber, but Crews said the sooner they can hire somebody,
the better.
"Every
day that goes by means we could be missing out on an opportunity,"
she said.
In the meantime,
the chamber is continuing its message of showing off the county to residents
and visitors.
Earlier this
week, the chamber sponsored a gathering at Oscar's, a relatively new
restaurant in College Park.
"We
had about 75 people there. It's nice to have this type of restaurant
in our area," she said.
The chamber
also will sponsor an April business forum at Tri-Cities High School.
The school will cater the function through its culinary arts department
and also showcase students from its performing arts department.
"This
is a little something different for us, but we think it will be fun,"
Crews said.
