Not neighbors' role to notify irresponsible pet owner

First, let me extent my deepest sympathies to Denise Barnett, who lost her pet in a web of miscommunication resulting in the pet's being put to sleep.

However, I have little sympathy for you as an irresponsible pet owner.

Cats are no different from dogs or any other pet. Owners have a responsibility to their pet to maintain them appropriately. In accordance with Peachtree City's laws, allowing your cat to roam is not adequate care.

I am a cat owner and have leash-trained cats in the past (although my current cat is confined to my home). It is not unreasonable to keep track of your animal. In fact, it keeps the animal safer.

It was not your "neighbors' responsibility" to tell an irresponsible pet owner the status of your pet. It is your responsibility to keep your pet in check. It is unfortunate that you had to learn this the hard way but perhaps you will be a more responsible pet owner in the future.
