Movies

By MICHAEL BOYLAN

Opening Friday

Hannibal Anthony Hopkins reprises his role as Hannibal Lecter in the sequel to The Silence of the Lambs. Jody Foster declined to do the movie because she did not care for the ending. Well, the ending of the movie is different from the book, but Julianne Moore will be playing Clarice Starling. I am psyched. Rated R.

Now Playing

13 Days Kevin Costner stars in this drama about the Cuban missile crisis. Go see this to see how close we came to world annihilation, or go see it to laugh at the Boston accents of the guys playing the Kennedys. Rated R.

Antitrust A thriller starring Tim Robbins as a Bill Gates type. Ryan Phillipe stars as the good guy. This looks OK, but you could find better things to do. Rated R.

Cast Away Tom Hanks was amazing as a man stranded on a deserted island. He will win the Oscar for Best Actor and this film will captivate you. Appropriate for almost any age, though some scenes may be too intense for children, Cast Away is destined to be a classic. Rated PG-13.

Chocolat A piece about a chocolate shop in France that excites the townsfolk and scares the prudes. Juliette Binoche, Judu Dench and Johnny Depp star. Rated PG-13.

Double Take A comedy action caper starring Orlando Jones and Eddie Griffin. It looks humorous, although it also looks like a movie that has been made about a hundred times before. Rated PG-13.

Family Man Nicolas Cage stars as a man who sees what his life would be like if he had married his college sweetheart. Like It's A Wonderful Life, but without Clarence the angel. Rated PG-13.

Finding Forrester Sean Connery stars in this film as a reclusive author who befriends a promising young writer. Rated PG-13.

Head Over Heels Freddie Prinze Jr. (not as talented as his dad) stars in this film about a man who is mistaken for a killer by a girl who lives with supermodels. I heard this is awful and you're if expecting a kind word on movies, that's not my job, man. Rated PG-13.

Miss Congeniality Sandra Bullock stars as an FBI agent who goes undercover on the beauty pageant circuit. I'll bet she wins, because she's so darned cute. Rated PG-13.

Save The Last Dance This movie is about a girl who moves to an inner city school and learns to follow her dreams of becoming a professional dancer. Sorry, but this one is not for me. Rated PG-13.

Snatch Guy Ritchie (Mr. Madonna) directs this comic-gangster caper about a baseball sized diamond. Brad Pitt stars in this film that was wildly successful in England. Rated R.

Sugar and Spice A group of cheerleaders decide to rob a bank to help pay for something. Maybe new pom-poms. It looks cute though. If you can't wait for video, go for it. Rated PG-13.

The Pledge Jack Nicholson stars as a cop in this thriller directed by Sean Penn. It looks promising. Helen Mirren also stars. Rated R.

The Wedding Planner Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey star in this film about a wedding planner who falls in love with her client. This is the type of film Julia Roberts used to make before becoming a serious, award-winning actress. Rated PG-13.

Traffic This film, directed by Steven Soderbergh, is on a lot of people's top ten lists this year. It stars newlyweds Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones and is nominated for a ton of Golden Globe Awards. It is for the adults. Rated R.

Valentine In college, four friends mercilessly humilated another student. Now, 10 years later he is a hunk and out for revenge. This film stars David Boreanaz (Angel) and Denise Richards (Wild Things) Rated R.

What Women Want If you look like Mel Gibson, women want you. If you look like me, women want you to go away and stop looking at them. This looks like a one joke movie but audiences who like this kind of film, loved this movie. You know what you like. Rated PG-13.

Also Playing

Charlie's Angels A fun movie based on the hit television program. It is quite campy but the action is good and the sound track is great. Rated PG-13.

Dungeons and Dragons Attention all nerds and dorks who have been waiting since 1982 for this film. It has arrived and it was a major box office disappointment. Marlon Wayans and Jeremy Irons star in this film. Rated PG-13.

The Grinch This film loses some appeal now that Christmas is in the past, but Jim Carrey gives a great performance and the visuals are stunning Rated PG.

Little Nicky Adam Sandler stars as the son of the Devil in this comedy. I thought it was great, but it is a hard PG-13 and is not appropriate for the younger Sandler fans out there. Rated PG-13.
