Braelinn receives grant for resident artists

Braelinn Elementary School in Peachtree City has received a Georgia Council for the Arts and Young Audiences of Atlanta Artists-In-Education Residency Program grant for a one-week residency in the area of visual arts to be conducted prior to August.

The AIE Residency Program provides arts experiences with professional artists giving participants opportunities for enriched, effective learning. The program introduces a professional artist's work and creative process through hands-on involvement. In addition, the program involves teachers in new instruction techniques and ways to integrate arts into the curriculum through staff development and in-class participation.

Program grants are now being accepted through March 15, for the grant implementation period of September 2001 through June 2002. For information about the AIE Residency Program or to receive an application phone Jeanene Williams at Young Audiences, 404-589-0644, ext. 18.

These programs are funded through appropriations of the Georgia General Assembly. The Georgia Council for the Arts is a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
