Blast to benefit FCHS chorus By MICHAEL
BOYLAN The Fayette County High School Select Chorus is heading to New York City in a few weeks and three bluegrass bands are helping them raise some money in support of their choir tour. Saturday night, Jan. 27, Lost Horizons, SteelBlue and Wild Blue Yonder will perform at Sams Auditorium for the Second Annual Fayetteville Bluegrass Blast. Wild Blue Yonder is a group of six seasoned musicians who cover a road range of musical stykes and material. The band has a very eclectic background and are just as likely to play a Stanley Brothers song as a few Bob Dylan tunes. One member of the band is Fayetteville resident Tony Bolin. SteelBlue performed in last year's Bluegrass Blast and is back by popular demand. The band infuses traditional bluegrass music with progressive bluegrass, jazz and swing. They have performed at the Alliance Theatre as the opening act for "Cotton Patch Gospel" as well as at the Governor's Mansion. Lost Horizons has been on the scene for the last four years, entertaining audiences as such venues as the Red Light Cafe in Atlanta. They are made up of four award winning musicians and are known for their traditional bluegrass music. "Last year's audience responed enthusiastically and we're planning another great show this year," said producer Jack Masters. The show will begin at 7 p.m. All tickets are $8 and are available at the door or by contacting a member of the Fayette County High School Select Chorus. For information, phone Jack Masters at 770-961-5974.
