Providence United Methodist's MENU schedule on Wednesdays offers something for the entire family

The MENU programs on Wednesdays at Providence United Methodist Church are designed to appeal to the entire family, beginning with an evening meal and continuing through special spiritual and personal development classes for adults, choir practice for children, and nursery activities for children under three.

'MENU' stands for Meals, Education, and New Understanding, and programs are planned through the month of May.

The cost for the dinner is $5 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under, with a maximum cost of $17 per family.

The evening extends from 5:45 until 9:15 p.m., beginning with the dinner and fellowship from 5:45-6:45 p.m. Special adult programs run from 6:45-7:45.

Children's choir practice is from 6:45-7:15 or 7:45, youth choir is from 6:45-7:45, adult choir is from 7:45-9:15, and a nursery is provided from 6:30-8 p.m.

A class on "Caring for Aging Parents" is currently being conducted and will run through Jan. 31.

On Feb. 7 and 21, a class on "Financial Planning for Aging Parents, will be conducted by Gwen Hinson. The first class will focus on planning for the elderly who have some savings or retirement benefits. The second session will focus on planning for aging parents with limited financial means.

On Feb. 14, following the dinner, the Show Choir from Starr's Mill High School will perform. A nursery will be provided for infants and young children.

A Lenten Bible study class will be offered Feb. 28 through April 11, and a class on gardening and spring planting will be conducted on April 18, with door prizes awarded to lucky attendees.

On April 25, a class on "Preparing a Budget" will be led by Dana Chitwood.

From May 5-9, Allan Todd and Eve Hanie will offer a class on "Parenting Teens,' designed to guide parents in helping their teens grow into responsible adults.

On May 16, the entire group will be invited to participate in a scavenger hunt for "Fun Night."
