Charles Billingsley to appear in pre-conference concert at Kenwood Christian Church Jan. 27 Contemporary Christian music artist Charles Billingsley will perform in concert at Kenwood Christian Church on Saturday evening, Jan 27, beginning at 6 p.m. The concert will kickoff the church's UnveilinGLORY conference, scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 28. Special appearances at the concert will also be made by the conference speaker, Gerald Robison, vice president of UnveilinGLORY, and WVFJ 93.3 FM's morning co-host, Sheila Richards, who will meet listeners and give out prizes. The conference will begin the next morning at the 9:30 a.m. worship service and will continue at the 11 a.m. service. Following a break for lunch, the conference will continue at 1:30 p.m. and conclude at 5:30 p.m. The cost for lunch is $5 per person and reservations are required. To reserve a space, call the church at 770-461-1487. For children in first through sixth grade, a simultaneous conference is being held. Billingsley, an Atlanta-based Christian music artist, has produced many albums, and spent two years as a lead vocalist with Christian music's top vocal band, New Song. During his tenure with the group, one of their albums was nominated for a Gospel Music Association award. Billingsley left the group in 1996 to return to full-time solo work, something he says he feels is his "original calling." "I consider the church to be my full-time mission," Billingsley says. "My goal both as an artist and a minister is to be able to somehow incorporate the elements of entertainment and worship with each concert." Gerald Robison, speaker for the conference, has led "Walk Through the Bible" seminars in over 15 countries through Eastern and Western Europe, Africa and the Middle East, as well as the United States. He says UnveilinGLORY unveils a new look at the Bible and encourages the reader to see it, not as 66 books, but as one book having one introduction, one story, and one conclusion. "That story is how God is reaching to all the world and will not allow history to stop until people from every tongue, tribe and nation are represented in Heaven, Robison states. "It's the story of God's blessings on his people and their responsibility to reach the nations of the world." During the seminar, Robison says, "You will discover how most of what you know about missions is incomplete; you'll discover another half of your Bible; you'll learn greater lessons from some of your favorite Bible stories; you'll discover why God blinds nonbelievers to the Gospel and believers to the Great Commission; and you'll discover the current state of evangelism."
