A number of people were recognized at the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce's Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet Saturday night.

Dot Kite was named Business Person of the Year for 2000. She is the owner of Dot Kite State Farm Insurance in Fayetteville and was selected on the basis of the growth of her business and her involvement in the community. She also served as chamber chairman in 1998.

The Chet Wells Service Award is awarded to the volunteer member of the chamber who has gone beyond duty in his or her work for the chamber.

Nancy Price was this year's recipient and was cited for her many hours of planning special events for the chamber, including the Spirit of Industry Awards Luncheon and the Annual Chamber Banquet.

Named "Ambassadors of the Year," Irene Edwards, Peachtree National Bank; and Trish Pittman, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, were cited for devoting endless hours and ideas for a "new Ambassador" orientation program and a "welcome to the chamber" program that will be launched in March.

The Ambassador committee of the chamber plays a vital role in recruiting and maintaining membership and can be easily recognized by their vibrant red jackets at any chamber event.

The chamber was celebrating its 34th annual meeting.
