Lady Cougar soccer team win academic award By
MICHAEL BOYLAN The 2000 Newnan Lady Cougars soccer team earned an extra award after a successful season. The team qualified for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Academic (NSCAA) Award. All teams with a combined GPA over 3.25 qualify for the award. Last year's Lady Cougars GPA was 3.47. This was the first time that Newnan has qualified for the award and they may be the first Coweta County school ever to achieve this goal. Other schools in the area that have qualified for the award were the Starr's Mill boys soccer team and the McIntosh girls soccer team, who qualified three years in a row. Teams that obtain the Academic Award will be recognized at the upcoming NSCAA convention and will be listed in Soccer Journal magazine. |
