offers classes for kids

Newnan Community Theatre Company, Inc. has revamped its Kidsplay program. The curriculum has been expanded to include several production and technical classes, all taught by Artistic Director Dale Lyles. The classes will be offered one day a week from 4:30-6 p.m. and will be offered throughout the year. Intermediate Acting will have students working on characterization through monologues, both scripted and student-developed. The six-lesson class begins Monday, Jan. 29. "Acting for Boys" is a a six-lesson course concentrating on the basics of theatre and acting and will begin Feb. 20. "Theatre Production/Puppetry" has students designing and building puppets and performing a play of their own writing for public performance. This is an eight-lesson course and will begin Thursday, Jan. 18, with some Saturday construction times as well as three performances Mar. 10-24. The acting clases are $60 per student, while the puppetry class is $75 per student. There is a 25-percent discount for additional students from the same family for the same course.
