FCT
to hold auditions for 'Dearly Departed' soon
Fayette Community Theatre, Inc. will hold auditions for its spring production of the comedy "Dearly Departed" by David Bottrell and Jessie Jones Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 22-23. Auditions will be conducted at Sams Auditorium in Fayetteville at 7:30 p.m. both evenings. "We are looking for adults of all ages to fill the roles in this down home, Southern-fried classic," said Director Michael McClendon. "It's a hilarious comedy that everyone will enjoy. We need Gospel singers and an organist as well to round off the cast. Dearly Departed promises to be the funniest show ever staged by Fayette Community Theatre and I am delighted to be directing it." Not since "Steel Magnolias" has a more colorful and dysfunctional group of Southern eccentrics gathered below the Mason-Dixon line. When the Turpin family patriarch keels over dead in the first scene, the struggle to get him buried involves the whole clan, including the not-so-grieving widow who wants to put "Mean and Surly" on the tombstone. FCT chairman Sylvia Wade stated, "We are delighted to have Michael directing for us. He is one of the best known and talented directors in the Atlanta area and brings a wealth of experience to our theatre. 'Dearly Departed' is a sure fire hit that continues our tradition of presenting outstanding live theater that the entire family can enjoy."
