Local man sets two new records in 2000 By MICHAEL BOYLAN Two thousand was a good year for fishing for Fayetteville's Thomas Elkins. Elkins set two International Game and Fish Association freshwater line class records in less than a month. April 10, he caught a three-pound, 12-ounce striped bass in Clarks Hill Lake, Ga. on a four-pound test line, filling the vacant four-pound line class category. May, 8, he caught a 14-pound, 11-ounce striped bass in Allatoona Lake, Ga., on a 20-pound test line, filling the vacant 20-pound line class category. There are still nine vacant Georgia state line class records in the four-pound, 12-pound and 20-pound line classes for largemouth bass, striped bass, white rock bass, bluegill and channel catfish. A complete list of eligible record species in each state is available free of charge.
