Registration for spring season of youth sports begins this month By MICHAEL BOYLAN You'd never know it by the weather, but the little league athletic season is right around the corner. All of the local youth sports organizations are preparing to conduct their registrations and get their teams ready to play. Coweta County will have registration at the Coweta County Fairgrounds Jan. 13, 27 and Feb. 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fee for the 4-year-old t-ball teams is $45, while the cost for players 5-14 is $70. For information, phone Kathy Barnett at 770-253-5149. Peachtree City will have little league tryouts for the competitive/traveling baseball teams Jan. 13. Players 9 and under, 16 and under and 18 and under should call Aashik Patel at 770-460-1480; players 10 and under and 11 and under should call Greg Hirschfeld at 770-486-6384; players 12 and under should call Keth Chabot at 770-487-2417; players 13 and under should call Mike Palladine at 770-487-7842, and players 14 and under should call Jim Thompson at 770-631-0933. The Peachtree City Youth Soccer Association will have its spring soccerregistration for new and returning players Tuesday, Jan. 16 from 6 - 9 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 20 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Peachtree City Library. Jan. 13 also will be the day for roller hockey registration in Peachtree City. Registration will be at the Kedron Field House from 9 a.m. to noon. The league is open to children ages 7 to 15 and will cost $90. A copy of the birth certificate will be required at registration. The league is split into three age groups; Squirts, 7-9, call Todd Audette, 770-487-2784; PeeWees, 10-12, Neil Stronach, 770-631-8522; Bantams, 13-15, John Peterzelak, 770-486-1238. The spring season of Peachtree City Roller Hockey will begin March 24. Tyrone also will be busy at the end of the month, signing up players for youth baseball and softball leagues. Baseball registration will be at Shamrock Park at the large concession stand Jan. 27, Feb. 3, Feb. 10 and Feb. 11. Registration times will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 27 and Feb. 3 and from 1-4 p.m. Feb. 10 and 11. Call Randy Blount at 770-964-9355 for information. Fees for the slow pitch league are $70 for one child, $110 for two children, and $135 for over two children.
