At its annual Christmas buffet, the Fayette County Board of Realtors announced the cash awards to three county nonprofit organizations as well as new officers for the coming year.

Receiving checks for their contributions to the community in the past year were Asden Johnson on behalf of the Fayette Youth Protection Homes, Donna Worcester, program director for the Fayette County Board of Education Mentoring Programs, and Sheryl Lee, director of the Fayette County Recreation Department.

The Realtors conduct their Noel November each year at the county recreation center on Redwine Road. The event is supported by the community and this year 66 decorated trees, table and mantle pieces were contributed to be auctioned off. The funds are always distributed in full to groups within the county.

Outgoing board President Martha Hayhurst thanked everyone "for allowing me to serve and for caring for me. Every time we come together, it's like a family reunion."

Past President Cindy Lester installed the new officers, who include Kathy Murphy, president; Mike Faulkner, president-elect; Terri Kellerman, vice president for member services; Joanie Keller, vice president for administration and finance; Debbie Lowe, vice president for professional development, and Terri Hornfeck, vice president for government and communications.

Serving as local directors are Kathy Byrne, Dave Edmondson, Dawn Scarbrough, Linda Nettleton, Kenneth Koon, Ed McGowan, Marie Craft, Cynthia Cromartie, Cheri Scranage and Patti Reynolds.
