Fox Theatre presents "Beauty And The Beast"

The story of "Beauty and the Beast" is well-known.

The Beast is a prince who has been put under an evil spell. The spell can only be broken when he learns to love and to be loved. Belle, a young woman, rescues her father by taking his place at the Beast's castle. Over time, the two fall in love and care for one another, thus breaking the spell.

"Beauty And The Beast" won acclaim as a full length Disney film. After being nominated for several Academy awards, including Best Picture, a musical was created. The stage production won several Tony awards and is now enjoying its seventh season on Broadway.

There are also versions being staged in Stuttgart, Germany and Madrid, Spain, as well as Third National Touring Company, which makes a stop at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Jan. 3-14.

The musical features the Academy Award-winning score as well as several new numbers. It also boasts elaborate scenery and costumes that bring the animated classic to life.

The musical features Danyelle Bossardet as Belle and Aaron Ramey as The Beast. Bossardet has been in the Los Angeles company and the Second National Touring Company of "Beauty And The Beast," while Ramey has performed as Jesus in "Godspell" and as Cliff in "Cabaret." Also featured in the cast are Edward Staudenmayer as Gaston, Ron Bagden as Cogsworth, Jay Russell as Lumiere and Ron Lee Savin as Maurice.
