Follow your favorite teams on the web

As we now enter the 21st century, it seems only appropriate that we can now follow our interests unabated on the Internet.

No matter where you are in the world, you can enter a website and learn about what is going on with your favorite team, club or hobby. If you are a fan of local athletic clubs and high school athletics, there are plenty of good websites for you to view.

Perhaps the best site for local fans is The Georgia Varsity Sports Vent, www.gavsv.com. It is a part of Rivals.com and gives people the opportunity to discuss their local teams and share information. It is a free site and once registered, you can post messages on a number of boards, ranging from football to golfing. This site works better the more people get involved in it.

Another exceptional site for fans of high school athletics is www.schoolsports.com. The site features all of the sports played by high school athletes in every state.

To follow your local high schools, check out these sites. McIntosh High School is located at www.mhs-chiefs.org, Fayette County High School is located at www.fchstigers.com, Starr's Mill High School is located at www.starrsmillhighschool.com, and Sandy Creek is located at www.fcboe.org/schoolhp/schs/index.htm.

The Sandy Creek wrestling team has its own site, sandycreekwrestling.homepage.com. The site features results, pictures and team information.

The three high schools in Coweta County can all be reached through the same site, www.coweta.k12.ga.us/index.htm.

These are obviously just the tip of the iceberg. New sites are created every day and eventually, every team will have their own site. If you have any sites that would be of interest to our readers, feel free to e-mail them to the sports editor at mboylan@TheCitizenNews.com.
