Fayette-Coweta Family Theatre Inc. celebrates a sold-out Christmas and looks forward to an entertaining new year

The New Fayette-Coweta Family Theatre Inc. received an early Christmas present this year, as it sold out all seven performances of its holiday musical production of "A Winnie-The-Pooh Christmas Tail" the first weekend in December.

"The audience response was overwhelming," says FCFT artistic director Tammy Barton. "If you didn't have a reservation or pre-purchased ticket, you just didn't get in," she said, adding that the theater group is thankful to the community for making the production such a success. Audiences were treated to the show and then a Christmas party with Santa and all the Pooh gang.

Coming up in the new year FCFT has several fun productions scheduled. They will start out 2001 by presenting an interactive musical production of "The Wizard of Oz" Thursday and Friday, Jan. 11 and 12 at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. and Jan. 13 at 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. These 45-minute shows will be presented by FCFT's professional troupe, A Company of Friends, and are part of the theater's Little Ones Theater Series, which is geared toward children from 3 to 8 years.

"Oz" will be presented at Sams Auditorium in Fayetteville and offers four performances during the week days so that school and daycare groups can take advantage of this unique experience. Pre-sale tickets are $4 and tickets at the door are $5. Pre-sale tickets will be available at Peachtree City and Fayetteville libraries, through phone reservations and online at the theater Web site starting this week. For school or group discounts please call the theater.

After "Oz" FCFT will present "The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland." This 50-minute Storybook Theater Series production will be presented in March and is full of humor, music and colorful costumes. Adapted for the stage by FCFT production manager Gayann Truelove, this "Alice" is heavy on laughs and will delight FCFT audiences from 4 to 10 years of age.

Being a Storybook Series presentation, performances will be followed by a zany tea party with all the folks from Wonderland.

Auditions for this comic romp will be Monday, Feb. 1 at LaFayette Educational Center in Fayetteville. Eighteen roles will be cast with performers from 7 to 18 years of age. For information call the theater.
