Lazers head to state cup finals By
MICHAEL BOYLAN The 87 Lazers White girls soccer team is the first PTCYSA team to qualify for a state cup final. They will play the United Quest Red of Cobb County at 11 a.m. this Sunday at McCurry Park in Fayetteville. Sunday's winner qualifies for the Region III tournament in Memphis, Tenn. in June. In their first three state cup games, the Lazers defeated GSA Phoenix Red (3-0), Roswell Santos (10-0) and Top hat Gold (1-0). The team also played in the Melbourne Holiday Challenge over Thanksgiving weekend. They scored 21 goals in the tournament, while allowing none. In their past nine games, the Lazers have not been scored upon. Team members include Jessica Asbill, Michelle Bind, Sarah Harmon, Monica Hogan, Jessica Lenze, Christie McDonald, Kristen McKillop, Emily McLaughlin, Beth Meadors, Emily Myers, Kellie Myles, Kari Ann Quinn, Sarah Ruddock, Malorie Rutledge, Katie Schulz, Jenna Sturgill, Leigh Svenaga and Arlan Whittle. The team is coached by Kevin Lenze. |
