"Rock 'n' Roll Santa," Fayette Community Theatre's current production, is a musical comedy set in the North Pole in the late 1950s.

The reindeer, like most teenagers at the time, are swept up in the new music, rock 'n' roll, and Santa, like most parents of the time, claims to hate it. The reindeer would rather play than work and Herman, an evil elf who serves as Santa's business manager, fires the reindeer. Their efforts to find other jobs turn into disaster, thanks to Blitzen, and the reindeer find themselves heavily in debt.

The reindeer contemplate many ideas and decide to form a rock band, but they will need a famous lead singer. They try to persuade Rudolph. Will he help them and will Santa forgive the reindeer before christmas is over? There is only one way to find out and that is to bring the entire family to this fun-filled musical comedy that will keep you laughing through the holiday season.

The show will be presented at Spring Hill Elementary School Fridays, Dec. 1 and 8 at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays, Dec. 2 and 9 at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays, Dec. 3 and 10 at 3 p.m. The performances will benefit the two Fayette County Youth Protection Homes.

Sylvia Wade, president of the theater group, noted, "This is the perfect show to attract families with children of all ages because it is today's music and dance coupled with a really fun script."

Fayette Community Theatre asks each person or family attending the show to bring a prepackaged snack food item, which will be provided to the two homes in the county. "There are never enough snacks for the kids," explained Wade. "So we are asking for snacks like pudding cups, microwave popcorn, cookies and other snacks that any kid would love."

Tickets are on sale now at the Fayetteville and Peachtree City public libraries and may also be ordered by phone by calling 770-631-1542. Tickets may be purchased in advance at a special price of four tickets for $20 with a fifth ticket free. Tickets at the door will be $5.
