Enough: Democrats
should be ashamed
Enough is enough. The general election has been over for about three weeks and we're still waiting to see who is going to be the next President. After weeks of counting and recounting, Bush has still won Florida. It's time for Gore to leave. He won't do this as long as he can challenge every count until he gets a favorable count. What is so pathetic is the silence in the Democratic Party. You hear nothing from Barnes, Miller or Cleland. They should be voicing their disapproval of this travesty being played out in Florida. Maybe we should have been more careful in who we elect to represent us. It looks like they want to see this farce played out to the bitter end. There are a couple of discrepancies being aired constantly during these counts and recounts in Florida. Number one: All you hear from Gore and his associates is the will of the people want this and want that. Gore doesn't really care about the will of the people. Fifty-two percent of the people voted against him. Gore cares only about the fact that he HAS to win this election. If he cared about the will of the people, he would, after four or five counts, concede defeat. Number two: Gore and the media constantly refer to this nation as a democracy. It is not a democracy! It is a republic! The Founding Fathers knew the dangers in a democracy and made sure we would not be one. No where in the "Pledge of Allegiance" can you find the word "democracy." You can, however, find the word "republic." Number three: Everyone is claiming Gore won the popular vote. If I remember correctly, Gore and Bush each received 48 percent of the popular vote and about 4 percent went to the other guys. I don't know what math everyone is using, but 48 percent does not equal a majority. No one won the popular vote. Fifty-two percent of the population voted against Gore and Bush. Now it's time for Gore to call it quits. He's challenged the Florida count time and again and lost. If he wasn't trying to steal this election before, he sure is trying to do that now. And the Democratic Party is condoning this. For all you Democrats out there aren't you just a little bit ashamed of this spectacle? Don't you just wish Gore would dry up and blow away?
