Avaya holds open house Avaya, formerly the Enterprise Networks Group of Lucent Technologies, hosted an open house in Peachtree City Nov. 14 to recognize the company's official spin-off from Lucent Technologies. The open house was hosted at Avaya's national headquarters for customer care at 500 Westpark Drive. Back in March, Lucent announced plans to spin off its Enterprise Networks Group by the end of September. ENG announced its new name, Avaya, in June. Sept. 30, Avaya's spin-off from Lucent was officially complete. During the open house, Sophia Williams, Avaya's national vice president of customer care centers, spoke about the spin and the company's mission to provide businesses with end-to-end electronic business communications solutions like call centers, messaging, wireless and converged networking. "We are excited to have our customer care headquarters here and to be a part of Peachtree City's booming economy," said Williams. "Avaya, as a new company, has a tremendous opportunity to focus its resources on enabling businesses to succeed in the 'e-business' age." More than 50 Peachtree City business representatives and city officials attended the open house that included a catered lunch and music by a harpist. Avaya employs more than 700 people in Georgia. Headquartered in Basking Ridge, N.J., the firm is a leading provider of communications systems for enterprises, including businesses, government agencies and other organizations.
