Community
comes together for 'A Tyrone Christmas' By MICHAEL
BOYLAN
The Christmas season is upon us. We know this because Santa is starting to make his appearances in and around the county. He has already paid a visit to Fayetteville and he will drop by Tyrone Tuesday, Nov. 28 during "A Tyrone Christmas." The event, which is hosted by the Tyrone recreation Center, will feature music, hot chocolate and cookies, Santa Claus and good, old-fashioned community spirit. "A Tyrone Christmas" will be at Town Hall and will last from 5:30-8 p.m. The backdrop for the staging was created by the students of Flat Rock Middle School and the Angel Tree also will be on hand. The Angel Tree is a town project to help less fortunate children in the community. If your school, church, business or civic group would like to get involved, phone Kim Stephens at the Tyrone Recreation Department at 770-487-4694. The deadline to return the angel will be Dec. 15. The festivities begin with the Burch Elementary School chorus from 5:30-6 p.m. They will be followed by the Tyrone Tempos from 6-6:30 p.m. The Flat Rock Middle School chorus starts at 6:30 p.m., which is also when Santa is scheduled to arrive. The Flat Rock band will perform from 7-7:30 p.m., leading into the Tyrone Line Dancers, who will kick up their heels from 7:30-8 p.m. At 8 p.m., all those enjoying the festivities will get a sneak preview of Fayette Community Theatre's production of "Rock 'n' Roll Santa." The Kiwanis Club will offer hot chocolate and cookies and the Brownies and the Girl Scouts troops of Tyrone ask that everybody bring a canned good for a donation to charity. |
